Taxonomic definition An inferior temporal gyrus is a gyrus of temporal lobe [gyrus lobi temporalis ] which lies longitudinally parallel to the middle temporal gyrus [gyrus temporalis medius ] and is continuous with the inferior occipital gyrus [tractus efferens thalami ]; it also extends on the inferior surface of the temporal lobe [lobus temporalis ].
